How do I troubleshoot the Pandora Windows Gadget?

Please make sure you have downloaded the official Pandora Windows Gadget.
Also, please make sure that you have installed the latest version of Flash from within Internet Explorer (and not from within Firefox or any other browser):
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash/
You should now be able to use the Pandora Windows Gadget.

TIP: For Pandora One listeners, we recommend using the Pandora One Desktop Application instead.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Pandora Windows Gadget, like most Sidebar Gadgets, launches automatically on startup. If you don't want Pandora to begin on startup, sign out at the end of a listening session by clicking "menu" in the lower left of the Sidebar Gadget, then selecting "sign out." When you want to listen again, you'll need to select "I already have an account," and sign in with your Pandora email address and password.

IMPORTANT NOTE: for listeners running Windows 7 - 64-bit
Unfortunately Flash, and therefore Pandora, doesn't work with the 64-bit Sidebar. Here are the steps to make the 32-bit Sidebar run on startup:
  1. Click the Windows Start Button in the lower left of your screen.

  2. Click "All Programs"

  3. Rick-click on the "Startup" folder and select "Explore"

  4. In the window that pops up, right-click the empty white space and select "New" and then "Shortcut"

  5. Copy the following text, INCLUDING the quotation marks: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe"

  6. Paste that copied text into the Shortcut's "Location" field

  7. Click "Next"

  8. Click "Finish"

  9. Now close all of your currently running Sidebar Gadgets (including Pandora, Clock, Calendar, etc.)

  10. Restart your Computer.

  11. Once your computer has restarted, right-click on your Desktop and select "Gadgets" to open the 32-bit Sidebar

  12. Doubleclick on Pandora to open it.

  13. If Pandora is running properly, then open the rest of the Sidebar Gadgets that you had running previously.

If you get the same error message, then close all Sidebar Gadgets and restart your computer again (and repeat steps 11-13).

IMPORTANT NOTE: for listeners running Vista 64-bit
Unfortunately Flash, and therefore Pandora, doesn't work with the 64-bit Sidebar. Here are the steps to make the 32-bit Sidebar run on startup:
Disable the 64-bit sidebar:
  1. Right-click the Windows Sidebar and select Properties.

  2. Un-check the "Start Sidebar when Windows starts" option and hit OK

Set the 32-bit sidebar to launch on startup:
  1. Click the Start Button / Windows Orb button in the lower left

  2. Click "All Programs"

  3. Scroll down until you see the "Startup" folder

  4. Right-click the "Startup" folder and select "Explore"

  5. In the window that pops up, right-click the empty white space and select New->Shortcut

  6. Copy the following text, including quotes: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe"

  7. Paste that copied text into the Shortcut's "Location" field.

  8. Click "Next."

  9. Click "Finish."

  10. Restart your computer.

If you get the same error message, then close all Sidebar Gadgets and restart your computer again (and repeat steps 3-12).

If all else fails, please try uninstalling the Gadget and re-installing:
To uninstall:
  1. Click the + sign at the top of the sidebar.

  2. Right-click the gadget you want to uninstall in the list.

  3. Select uninstall.

» If still having trouble after taking all of the above steps for your type of OS, please contact Pandora Listener Support, providing as much detail (type of computer, operating system version, web browser version, Flash version, and what happened when you took each of the above steps) as possible.
