Repair and Troubleshooting Samsung Series 5 Chromebook


The Samsung Series 5 weighs 3.3 pounds and measures 11.6" (W) x 8.6" (D) x 0.8" (H).


Three Phillips #1 screws are visible on the Samsung Series 5's back cover. Four more Phillips screws are hidden under the computer's four rubber feet.








Removing the battery screws

Disconnecting the battery from the motherboard

 

Disconnecting the Qualcom Gobi2000 WWAN board antenna wires

Removing the Qualcom Gobi2000 WWAN board screw

Removing the SanDisk SSD screw

Removing the Qualcomm Atheros Wi-Fi card

Prying the right speaker away from the case

Removing the right-side PCB screw The small right-side PCB contains a speaker connector, USIM card slot, USB port, and connectors for the two wireless PCBs.

Disconnecting the right-side PCB ribbong cable

A large ribbon cable connects the smaller right-side PCB to the Samsung Series 5's motherboard.

Remvoing the SD card reader PCB screws

 

Disconnecting the SD card reader PCB ribbon cables

Removing the SD card reader PCB

Disconnecting the right-side PCB ribbon cable from the motherboard

 

Removing the touchpad PCB cover screws

Removing the touchpad PCB cover

The keyboard and touchpad are permanently attached to the upper case

Removing the heatsink and cooling fan

Disconnecting the displaly connector from the motherboard

Removing the motherboard screws

Removing the lid and display screws

System battery

Removing black plastic shielding from the back of the motherboard
